The Armor of God Ephesians 6:10-20 NIV * 10/ Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  11/ Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  12/For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  13/ Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  14/ Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15/ and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  16/ In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  17/ Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  18/ And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. 3/ WE BELIEVE that satan, originally a great and good angel, rebelled against God, taking a multitude of angels with him.  He was cast out of God's presence and is at work with his demonic hosts to establish his counter-kingdom of darkness and evil on earth.  satan was judged and defeated at the cross of Christ, and will at the end of the age, be cast forever into the lake of fire which has been prepared for him and his angels.  Ezekiel 28:12-19 Matthew 12:25-28; John 12:31; 16:11; Ephesians 6:10-20 {printed above}; Colossians 2:15; 2 Peter 2:4-9; Jude 1:6-8; Revelation 12:7-9; 20:10.

• Ezekiel 28:12-19 NKJV * 12/ “You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.  13/ You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: the sardius, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold.  The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the day you were created.  14/ “You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.

• Jude 1:6-8 NIV* 6/ And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.  7/ In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion.  They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.

  8/ In the very same way, on the strength of their dreams these ungodly people pollute their own bodies, reject authority and heap abuse on celestial beings.

• Revelation20:10*                                                            10/ And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown.  They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Names The Bible Gives To satin

 By examining the many names the Bible gives for satan, we can see more clearly  who he is, and what he does. 

• abaddon                                               Hebrew name for Satan meaning “destruction”. “And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is abaddon, but in Greek he has the name apollyon.” Revelation 9:11 accuser                                                                “Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.’” Revelation 12:10 adversary                                                            “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

• angel of light                                                     “And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:14

• angel of the bottomless pit                          “And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is abaddon, but in Greek he has the name apollyon.” Revelation 9:11

• anointed covering cherub                           "You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones." Ezekiel 28:14

• antichrist                                                           “And every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.” 1 John 4:3

• apollyon                                                   Greek name for Satan meaning “destroyer”. “And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is abaddon, but in Greek he has the name apollyon.” Revelation 9:11

• beast                                                                     9/ “Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, ‘If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10/ he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.’” Revelation 14:9,10

• devil                                                                      “He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8

• enemy                                                                  “The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.” Matthew 13:39

• evil one                                                                “I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.” John 17:15

• father of lies                                              You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires.  He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him.  When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.  John 8:44

• god of this age                                                  “Whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” 2 Corinthians 4:4

• king of babylon                                                “That you will take up this proverb against the king of babylon, and say: ‘How the oppressor has ceased, The golden city ceased!’” Isaiah 14:4

• king of the bottomless pit                            “And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is abaddon, but in Greek he has the name apollyon.” Revelation 9:11

• leviathan                                                             “In that day the LORD with His severe sword, great and strong, will punish leviathan the fleeing serpent,

• man of sin                                                       “3/ Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4

• power of darkness                                          “13/ He {GOD} has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love {JESUS CHRIST}, 14/ in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:13, 14                           

• prince of the power of the air                  “1/ And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2/ in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience.” Ephesians 2:1,2 

• roaring lion “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

• rulers of the darkness                                   “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12

• ruler of demons                                               “But some of them said, ‘He casts out demons by beelzebub, the ruler of the demons.’” Luke 11:15

• thief                                                                      “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

• wicked one                                                         “Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.” Ephesians 6:16  

 According to Bible prophecy, Satan will soon, if he has not already, leave the realm of the spirit world that he has lived in for thousands of years.  He will be able to be seen physically by humans living on Earth, as he will claim that he is God.  The Bible refers to him as the beast.

BE ALERT!  BE SURE TO WEAR THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD EVERYDAY!
