GENESIS 15:1 NKJV

  1/ After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

The Physical WORD we know today as JESUS/GOD THE SON or SON OF GOD, was interacting with man thousands of years before He became flesh and dwelt on earth among us {John 1:1-14}. He was known to ancient civilizations by different names and appeared to them in various ways.

Revelation 19:13 * 13/ His {JESUS CHRIST} name is called THE WORD OF GOD.

In the above scripture Genesis 15:1, Jesus as the Word of God, is interacting with Abram in a vision.

JESUS speaks in John 8:56, & 58 below:
56/ Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” 57/ Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” 58/ Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

THE ESTIMATED TIME BETWEEN ABRAHAM AND JESUS' DAYS ON EARTH ARE SOMEWHERE AROUND 2,000 YEARS



GENESIS 15:2-6

2/ And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?

Eliezer of Damascus was the steward of Abraham's house and his presumed heir, before the birth of Isaac.

Based on the Septuagint {the oldest Greek version of the Old Testament}, Genesis 15:2 reads: "And Abraham said, 'Lord, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus, the son of Masek, my domestic maid servant." 

If we include Eliezer as a son (following the Septuagint), Abraham would have had nine sons by two wives {Keturah & Sarah} and two concubines {Hagar & Masek}. 
Eliezer would have been Abraham's son by his concubine Masek (Mesek), and one of nine sons named in Scripture who were born to Abraham. However, his relationship to Abraham is not made clear in the King James Version {KJV} Bible, or in more modern Bible translations, but is made clear in the Septuagint.

THE FOLLOWING DIAGRAMS DO NOT SHOW MASEK AS ONE OF ABRAHAM'S CONCUBINES OR ELIEZER AS HIS SON, ACCORDING TO THE SEPTUAGINT, BUT THEY STILL PRESENT VIVID PICTURES OF ABRAM/ABRAHAM'S DESCENDANTS ACCORDING TO THE KING JAMES VERSION {KJV} BIBLE.

 Notice these nations emerged from the children of Abraham too:

• Ishmaelites - {See Genesis 25:12 thru 18}  the Children of Ishmael who was the son of Abraham through the Egyptian handmaid Hagar, were called after their father Ishmael - 12 princes or tribes/Arab nations.



• Midianites - Children of Abraham through wife Keturah {See Genesis 25:1 thru 4} (Ethiopia is Cush in Hebrew, and the Cushites originally settled on the western shores of Arabia, before moving across the Red Sea to Ethiopia, being gradually replaced by the Midianites. Thus, the Cushites and Midianites probably experienced considerable intermingling and intermarriage in the process. Habakkuk 3:7 indicates that Cushan and Midian were sometimes considered equivalent.

•  Edomites - Children of Abraham through Sarah -> Son Isaac with Syrian wife Rebecca> Esau/Jacob's twin brother {See Genesis 25:19-34} (Esau's other name was Edom see Genesis 36:1-43)
• Amelekites - Children of Amelek who was the grandson of Esau (Gen 36:16)

 But, there is a specific line of succession starting from Abraham with whom the land covenant is re-established.

• First to Abraham: Genesis 15:8: In that same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:
• Then to Isaac: Genesis 17:21: But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.
• Then to Jacob whose name was changed to Israel by God: {See the name change in Genesis 35:10 thru 12}, Genesis 28:13, 14 * 13/And, behold, the Lord stood above it, and said, I am the Lord God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; 14/ And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth; and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.                             {Remember the name change in Genesis 35:10} So the land of Israel was named as such.

 3/ And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.

4/ And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.

Genesis 15:7-12

7/ Then He said to him, “I am the Lord, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.”
8/ And he said, “Lord God, how shall I know that I will inherit it?”
9/ So He said to him, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.” 10/ Then he brought all these to Him and cut them in two, down the middle, and placed each piece opposite the other; but he did not cut the birds in two. 11/ And when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
12/ Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him. 

ISRAEL'S CAPTIVITY PREDICTED BY GOD AND SHOWN TO ABRAM IN A DEEP SLEEP.

 Genesis 15:13 thru 17

 13/ Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. 14/ And also the nation whom they serve I will judge;

afterward they shall come out with great possessions.

 Equity is the quality of being fair and impartial.

17/ And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that passed between those pieces.

 19/ The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
20/ And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,
21/ And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
