ABOUT ANGELS
written by Pastor Janice L. Williams
Please keep in mind as we do this Bible study; angels are heavenly hosts that comprise God’s Army. JESUS CHRIST is the “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS” [Revelation 19:16]. He is the KING OF GLORY, who is also called the LORD OF HOSTS [Psalm 24:7 thru 10].
JESUS has authority over all principality and power [Matthew 28:18, Colossians 2:9-10, Ephesians 1:19 thru 23]. Colossians 1:16 KJV tells us, "For by him [JESUS] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him." JESUS commands Angels and they obey His orders [Matthew 26:53-54, Revelation 1:1, Revelation 22:16]. There is no one, and nothing, greater than JESUS CHRIST THE LORD.
Angels are often spoken of throughout the Christian Bible; from the first book of Genesis, to the last book of Revelation. Angels pertaining to Christianity are:
There are nine orders of angels in the traditional Christian hierarchy. The nine orders are in ascending order:
I Thessalonians 4:16 NKJV - For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. Jude 9 NKJV – Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” Revelation 12:7-9 KJV – 7/ And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8/ And prevailed not; neither was their place found anymore in heaven. 9/ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

Let’s look at just a few of many different scriptures that tell us about:
Angels acting as messengers of God.
Genesis 16:7-11 NKJV – 7/ Now the Angel of the LORD found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur. 8/ And He said, “Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from, and where are you going?” She said, “I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai.” 9/ The Angel of the LORD said to her, Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand.” 10/ Then the Angel of the LORD said to her, “I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude.” 11/ And the Angel of the LORD said to her: “Behold, you are with child, and you shall bear a son. You shall call his name Ishmael, because the LORD has heard your affliction.
Genesis 31:11-13 NKJV – 11/ “Then the Angel of God spoke to me in a dream, saying, ‘Jacob.’ And I said, ‘Here I am.’ 12/ “And He said, ‘Lift your eyes now and see, all the rams which leap on the flocks are streaked, speckled, and gray spotted; for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you. 13/ ‘I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me. Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.’"
Judges 2:1-4 NKJV – 1/ Then the Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: “I led you up from Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you. 2/ ‘And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their alters.’ But you have not obeyed my voice. Why have you done this? 3/ “Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.’” 4/ So it was, when the Angel of the LORD spoke these words to all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voices and wept.
Judges 6:22 NKJV – 22/ Now Gideon perceived that He was the Angel of the LORD. So Gideon said, “Alas, O Lord God! For I have seen the Angel of the LORD face to face.”
Zechariah 4:1 NKJV - 1/ Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep.
Matthew 1:20-21 NKJV – 20/ But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21/ “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins.”
Matthew 2:13 NKJV – 13/ Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young Child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I bring you word; for Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.”
Luke 1:13-17 NKJV – 13/ But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14/ “And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth. 15/ “For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. 16/ And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 17/ “He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,” and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
Acts 10:22 NKJV – 22/ And they said, “Cornelius the centurion, a just man, one who fears God and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was divinely instructed by a holy angel to summon you to his house, and to hear words from you.”
Revelation 1:1 NKJV – 1/ The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John.
Revelation 22:16 NKJV – 16/ “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”

It is comforting to know that Father God loves us so much, He assigns angels to watch over us even before we receive salvation. [Hebrew 1:14].
&
JESUS
tells us in
LUKE 15:10 NKJV
"THERE IS JOY IN THE PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS OF GOD OVER ONE SINNER WHO REPENTS."
EVERY SAVED SOUL ON EARTH
IS CELEBRATED IN HEAVEN!
What’s even more comforting is, after receiving salvation, and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, we can be secure in knowing that the Holy Spirit dwelling inside our mortal body, protects us from evil, hurt, harm, and danger [Isaiah 59:19 KJV * Luke 10:19 KJV] .
Father God loves us with an everlasting love [Jeremiah 31:3 KJV], and will never leave us or forsake [Hebrews 13:5 KJV].
Romans 8:38-39 KJV – 38/ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39/ Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
