RESURRECTION SUNDAY [APRIL 24, 2011 & APRIL 8, 2012, MARCH 31, 2013, APRIL 20, 2014, APRIL 5, 2015, March 27, 2016, April 16, 2017, April 1 2018, April 21, 2019, April 12, 2020, April 4, 2021 & APRIL 17, 2022] IS THE CHRISTIAN FESTIVAL COMMEMORATING THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST.  IT IS REFERRED TO AS EASTER BY SOME CHRISTIANS AND BY MANY OTHERS NOT OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH.

LET'S LOOK AT SOME WORD DEFINITIONS FOR THIS BIBLE STUDY

• Resurrection -in Christian belief, the rising of Jesus Christ from the dead after his crucifixion and entombment.

• resurrection - 1/a rising from, or raising of somebody from the dead

• 2/the revival of something old or long disused, for example; the resurrection of a youthful dream

• Sabbath - 1/Saturday [7th day], observed as a day of religious worship and rest from work in Judaism and some Christian denominations * 2/Sunday, observed by most Christians as the day of worship and rest from work

• Easter [from the Wikipedia free encyclopedia] -
  
• Easter (Old English: ostre; Greek: , Paskha; Aramaic and Hebrew: Pasa,) is the central feast in the Christian liturgical year. According to the Canonical gospels, Jesus rose from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. His resurrection is celebrated on Easter Day or Easter Sunday (also called Resurrection Day or Resurrection Sunday). The chronology of his death and resurrection is variously interpreted to be between AD 26 and 36, traditionally 33 AD. Easter marks the end of Lent, a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance. The last week of the Lent is called Holy Week, and it contains Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Easter is followed by a fifty-day period called Eastertide or the Easter Season, ending with Pentecost Sunday. [a Christian festival celebrated on the seventh Sunday after Resurrection Sunday, that commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles]. 
  
• Easter is a moveable feast, meaning it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. It occurs during the Spring; (Or Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.) in March or April; the method for determining the date of Easter Sunday is complex, based on lunisolar calendar.
• Easter is linked to the Jewish Passover by much of its symbolism, as well as by its position in the calendar. In many European languages, the words for "Easter" and "Passover" are etymologically related or homonymous. The term "Pascha", from the same root, is also used in English to refer to Easter.

• Easter customs vary across the Christian world, but decorating Easter eggs is a common motif. In the Western world, customs such as egg hunting and Easter Bunny extend from the domain of church, and often have a secular character. The modern English term Easter developed from the Old English word astre or ostre (IPA:[stre, eostre]), which itself developed prior to 899. The name refers to Eostur-monath (Old English "ostre month"), a month of the Germanic calendar attested by Bede, who writes that the month is named after the goddess ostre of Anglo-Saxon paganism. Bede notes that ostur-monath was the equivalent to the month of April, yet that feasts held in her honor during ostur-monath had gone out of use by the time of his writing and had been replaced with the Christian custom of "Paschal season".Using comparative linguistic evidence from continental Germanic sources, the 19th century scholar Jacob Grimm proposed the existence of a cognate form of ostre among the pre-Christian beliefs of the continental Germanic peoples, whose name he reconstructed as *Ostara. Since Grimm's time, linguists have identified the goddess as a Germanic form of the reconstructed Proto-Indo-European goddess of the dawn, *Hausos and theories connecting ostre with records of Germanic Easter customs (including hares and eggs) have been proposed.
• Created in 1884, judging by the signature. Published in 1901.
• English: "Ostara" (1901) by Johannes Gehrts. The goddess ostre/*Ostara flies through the heavens surrounded by Roman-inspired putti, beams of light, and animals. Germanic peoples look up at the goddess from the realm below.

• The Easter Bunny is the modern replacement for "the hare, the symbol of fertility in ancient Egypt" (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 15th edition, Micropaedia, p. 333, "Easter"). It's no secret that rabbits are extremely prolific. Their females bear several litters of two to eight young each year, and gestation takes about a month.

• Contrary to God's instruction, these pagan fertility symbols credit divine powers to the creation [rabbits and eggs] instead of to the Creator (Romans 1:21 thru 32 KJV).

• "In traditional folk religion the egg is a powerful symbol of fertility, purity and rebirth. It is used in magical rituals to promote fertility and restore virility; to look into the future; to bring good weather; to encourage the growth of crops and protect both cattle and children against misfortune, especially the dreaded evil eye. All over the world it represents life, creation, and fertility. Later customs concerning eggs were linked with Easter.

• People have the choice of looking to God as their Creator for reproductive blessings or looking to the creation. Given the history of rabbits and eggs as pagan fertility symbols, do you think God is pleased when people include these as symbols of their worship?

• After learning the truth about Easter, it defied my imagination how anyone could ever attach Easter, the name for idol worship of a pagan goddess, to the most Holy Event God ever performed on earth for the salvation of all mankind,

that is until I read Romans 1:21 thru 32, in the King James Version Bible.

21/ Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22/ Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23/ And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24/ Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25/ Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26/ For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27/ And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28/ And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29/ Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30/ Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31/ Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32/ Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Glory to God HalleluYAH!!! What a glorious future all in the body of Christ have to look forward to. The exceedingly great news is, because of Jesus' death & Resurrection,

everyone is invited

to come into the family of God, and receive the free gift of eternal life.

 

 We receive this free gift of eternal life by accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Lord & Savior. Jesus defeated death and separation from God for us.

Because Jesus lives, after having died, we shall also live after the physical body we now have dies. At the second coming of Jesus, we will receive a glorified body that has no death in it. [please review Weekly Bible Study #4 "No Greater Love" & #31 "About The Rapture"]

We praise and thank God for what Jesus did for us!!! Oh how marvelous it is to have received the free gift of eternal life in heavenly realms. Also, it's so wonderful to know that right now we have a Savior in Jesus, who indwells our mortal bodies with the Holy Spirit, that protects, leads, and guides us into all truth [John 16:13 KJV], and abundant living [John 10:10 KJV] here on earth now.
