ARE YOU ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST?
Bible Study by Pastor Janice L Williams
Jesus spoke in Mark 8:38 (NKJ V)
For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels."
BIBLE STUDY FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 18th-25th, 2012
Romans 1:16-32 NLT * 16/ For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. 17/ This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”
18/ But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19/ They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20/ For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
21/ Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. 22/ Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23/ And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
24/ So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. 25/ They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. 26/ That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27/ And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.

28/ Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29/ Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30/ They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31/ They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32/ They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.
Hebrews 2:9-18 NKJV * 9/ But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
10/ For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. 11 /For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, 12/ saying: "I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.” 13/ And again: "I will put My trust in Him.” And again: “Here am I and the children whom God has given me. 14/ Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15/ and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16/ For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. 17/ Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18/ For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.
Jesus stated in John 14:1-3 NJKV * “1/ Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2/ In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3/ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
Luke 9:23-26 NKJV * 23/ Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24/ For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25/ For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26/For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of the holy angels.
Revelation 3:19-21 NKJV * 19/ As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.
20/ Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21/ To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
Hebrews 11:16 NKJV * But now they desire a better, that is a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.
